Released on the Tresor imprint, the project employs a 16-voice choir to explore how vocal cords and machines can generate similar, overlapping resonances. A collaborator of Detroit pioneer Juan Atkins, von Oswald brings a profound understanding of electronica's complexities. Written in his Berlin studio on classic synthesizers like the EMS VCS3, Prophet V, and Moog Model 15, the recordings were transcribed into choral sheet music by Finnish composer Jarkko Riihimäki. Presented in Amsterdam’s spectacular 13th-century Oude Kerk as Dekmantel’s opening concert—a Dutch exclusive show—'Silencio' is a cosmically textured work that dissolves the boundaries between natural and artificial tones, weaving them into an otherworldly sonic tapestry.
