Live Film Score: La Planète Sauvage

Dekmantel Festival presents the live film score of La Planète Sauvage. The allegorical story, about humans living on a strange planet dominated by giant humanoid aliens who consider them animals, is based on the 1957 novel Oms en série by French writer Stefan Wul. The soundtrack for the movie itself became one of the most influential film scores of all time and was composed by Alain Goraguer. In the Summer of 2021, composer Nitai Hershkovits was asked to rewrite the original score and performed with the Israeli Chamber Orchestra. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the film, Dekmantel Festival presents a new and synth-driven version of the live score in close collaboration with Eye Filmmuseum and L'Institut Francais.
