Fadi Mohem has been introduced as ‘the new face of Berghain’ – and though that description sounds a little easy, it’s his actual story. Growing up near Berlin, the famed club is where this young producer first fell in love with electronic music a decade ago and became a resident last year. Inspired by old-school heroes (think: Ben Klock, Surgeon, DJ Deeon) as well as the new generation (Kaiser, Stef Mendisidis, Forest Drive West et al.), Mohem constructs weighty but bouncy techno tracks that don’t eschew a rhythmic quirk or two. In the past year he’s independently released the fresh and dubby ‘Mohem 01’ on vinyl, as well as the ‘Klockworks 34’ EP in collaboration with his illustrious Berlin mentor.
