Gabrielle Kwarteng is on a steady, slow-burning rise upward. Back in 2017, she won a Mixcloud award for "Best Eclectic Show" and while "eclectic" is certainly a descriptor that fits her globetrotting tastes, the American selector is firmly rooted in the sound of her native New York. Raised by music-loving Ghanaian parents, Gabrielle pays homage to the roots of black US styles – heady ‘80s house and ballroom, diaspora-traversing disco interpretations, infectious percussion and, as the lights get lower, an undeniable acid undercurrent. Her b2b with festival founder Casper Tielrooij is not to be missed – the pair will be diving into their record collections, navigating not only the annuals of history but also the continuum of world dance music.
