Most musicians can only dream of a career that resembles the prolific path of Michael Paradinas. Active as µ-Ziq (pronounced ‘music’) since the early 90s, the British producer is closely associated with the birth of IDM as well as drill ‘n’ bass, collaborated with Aphex Twin, produced various (sub)genres under various (sub)monikers, and toured with Björk – to name a few of many feats. In 1995, µ-Ziq founded Planet Mu, the record label that’s still active today and responsible for releases by Venetian Snares, Machinedrum, Luke Vibert and DJ Rashad, as well as more recent boundary pushers including Jlin, Bogdan Raczynski, Jana Rush and Ziúr. As a producer, 2022 saw µ-Ziq releasing three (!) bodies of work, including the brimming full-lengths ‘Magic Pony Ride’ and ‘Hello’. Live at Dekmantel Festival ’23, give it up for an ever-relevant electronic music creator and curator.
