Acid Arab (live)
AUG 2 / Tolhuistuin
Take two French guys, throw in a bunch of eastern music, some house beats, a bit of acid, and what do you get? A really good time, that’s what. Having taken their name from a Facebook community group that shared obscure, and collectable Eastern grooves, Guido Minisky and Hervé Carvalho have carved out a real niche sound that takes all the great bits of Turkish psych, Algerian funk, and jazz, mixing it in with a versatile, live feel. With a string of EPs, parties, and compilations (which you must seriously check out), it wasn’t until their debut LP 'Musique De France' — a record that featured a wide range of French-arabic vocalists — did they really start crafting something that started turning international heads. If you dig Omar Souleyman, Baris K, and I:Cube, love geeking out on overly expensive Turkish collector items on Discogs, and generally love throwing away all inhibitions while dancing, then you’re gonna go crazy for this.
