One of the few artists alive who can say they helped invent a new genre in the 21st century, Mala’s name is almost synonymous with dubstep. In the early 2000s, as a member of the ground-breaking crew DMZ, his mystical, plummeting sound captured the imagination of a generation of ravers. As dubstep evolved globally, so did his desire to lead fans to the roots of soundsystem culture and – alongside a cohort of fellow musicians, label-heads, DJs, promoters and punters – seek out new horizons. Guided by the principles of 'music, energy, culture and collaboration’, nearly 20 years later, Mala's ideas and creations continue to influence and push contemporary electronica to unchartered places.
