Cakes da Killa Live

It’s been a decade since Rashard Bradshaw, better known as Cakes da Killa, burst onto the scene with his razor-sharp flow, top-tier electronic beats and fiery flamboyance. Inspired by cultural icons ranging from Lil’ Kim to Bette Midler, the American rapper is often credited for furthering the acceptance of queer artists in hip-hop—from the fringes to the mainstream—yet always stresses that ‘an openly gay rapper shouldn’t be breaking news’. In 2022 his latest album, ‘Svengali’, saw the light of day: a sleek nocturnal exploration of love and lust in New York City as well as a raw tribute to club music’s Black and queer pioneers.
