With a career spanning over six decades, the self described ‘original Rio beach boy’ and renowned Brazilian export Marcos Valle helped bring new varieties of Bossa Nova, samba, and other erstwhile Latin jazz to the rest of the world. The ‘renaissance man of Brazilian pop’ will forever be a lynchpin within Brazil’s musical lineage, alongside such peers as Sergio Mendes and Tom Jobim. With classic records like ‘Estrelar’ (the boogie, work-out track), ‘Mentira’ and more often being spun by DJs at Dekmantel across the years, it was time the Brazilian legend finally made his debut appearance at this year’s proceedings. And quite rightly so.
